Report on the Heritage Evening Featuring

Under the patronage and organisation of the Australian Iraqi Forum, a distinguished cultural and musical heritage evening was held on Saturday, 20 September 2025, at the Broadmeadows Town Hall. The event was headlined by the Iraqi expatriate artist and singer Ismail Fadhil and attracted a remarkable audience of more than 200 attendees, primarily from the local Iraqi community, alongside a number of guests with a strong interest in arts and cultural affairs.
The evening served as a unifying cultural and humanistic gathering, offering members of the Iraqi diaspora in Melbourne an opportunity to reconnect with their musical heritage and collective cultural memory. Through his warm voice, heartfelt and engaging performance, and carefully curated selection of traditional Iraqi songs, Ismail Fadhil successfully transported the audience to the authentic atmosphere of Baghdad, evoking nostalgia and reviving the beauty and emotional depth of Iraq’s rich musical past. His performance resonated deeply with the audience, who engaged enthusiastically throughout the evening.
The concert extended over approximately three continuous hours, reflecting both the richness of the program and the audience’s strong engagement. A scheduled intermission provided attendees with the opportunity to enjoy traditional Iraqi sweets, tea, and coffee, creating a relaxed and welcoming social environment that encouraged conversation, connection, and a shared sense of community among attendees.
Adding a distinctive visual and artistic dimension to the event, the stage was adorned with a large artwork depicting traditional Iraqi shanasheel – an iconic element of Iraq’s architectural and cultural heritage. This impressive piece of art was masterfully created by artist Salah Saif Murad and artist Amer Esho, serving as a powerful visual backdrop that reinforced the cultural identity and heritage-focused theme of the evening.
The evening was smoothly and professionally hosted by AIF executive member Mr Ahmed Radi, whose engaging and interactive style played a significant role in enhancing audience participation. His thoughtful presentation and direct communication with the audience helped create a harmonious connection between the performer and attendees, contributing to the overall success and warm atmosphere of the event.
At the conclusion of the evening, attendees expressed their great appreciation and satisfaction with the event, commending the Australian Iraqi Forum for its continued efforts in supporting cultural initiatives that preserve Iraqi cultural identity and promote its presence within Australian society. Many emphasised the importance of sustaining such events, which successfully bring together art, heritage, and a shared sense of belonging, and strengthen cultural ties within the multicultural fabric of Australia.

برعاية وتنظيم المنتدى العراقي الأسترالي، أُقيمت أمسية ثقافية وفنية تراثية متميزة مساء يوم السبت الموافق 20 أيلول / سبتمبر 2025 على قاعة برودميدوز تاون هول، أحياها الفنان والمطرب العراقي المغترب إسماعيل فاضل. وقد شهدت الأمسية حضورًا جماهيريًا لافتًا تجاوز 200 شخص، غالبيتهم من أبناء الجالية العراقية في ملبورن، إلى جانب عدد من الضيوف والمهتمين بالشأنين الثقافي والفني.
شكّلت هذه الأمسية ملتقى ثقافيًا وإنسانيًا جامعًا، أتاح لأبناء الجالية العراقية في ملبورن فرصة إعادة التواصل مع إرثهم الموسيقي وذاكرتهم الثقافية الجمعية. ومن خلال صوته الدافئ وأدائه الصادق والمؤثر، إضافة إلى اختياراته المدروسة من الأغاني العراقية التراثية، نجح الفنان إسماعيل فاضل في نقل الحضور إلى الأجواء الأصيلة لمدينة بغداد، مستحضرًا مشاعر الحنين، ومحييًا جماليات الماضي وعمقه الوجداني في الذاكرة الموسيقية العراقية. وقد لاقت فقراته تفاعلًا واسعًا وحماسًا ملحوظًا من الجمهور طوال الأمسية.
استمر الحفل لما يقارب ثلاث ساعات متواصلة، في انعكاسٍ واضح لغنى البرنامج الفني وعمق تفاعل الجمهور معه. وتخللت الأمسية فترة استراحة أُتيحت خلالها الفرصة للحضور للاستمتاع بتناول الحلويات العراقية التقليدية والشاي والقهوة، في أجواء اجتماعية دافئة ومريحة، عززت روح الألفة والتواصل والانتماء بين أفراد الجالية.
ولإضفاء بعدٍ بصريّ وفنيّ مميز على الأمسية، تزيّنت منصة الحفل بلوحة فنية كبيرة تجسّد الشناشيل العراقية، بوصفها رمزًا بارزًا من رموز العمارة والتراث الثقافي العراقي. وقد أُنجز هذا العمل الفني باحتراف وإبداع على يد الفنان صلاح سيف مراد والفنان آمر إيشو، ليشكّل خلفية جمالية عبّرت بوضوح عن هوية الأمسية ورسالتها التراثية.
أما عرافة الأمسية، فقد أدارها بسلاسة واحتراف عضو الهيئة التنفيذية في المنتدى العراقي الأسترالي السيد أحمد راضي، الذي أسهم بأسلوبه التفاعلي الجاذب في تعزيز مشاركة الجمهور وتفاعله مع فقرات الحفل. كما ساعد تقديمه الرصين وتواصله المباشر مع الحضور في خلق حالة من الانسجام بين الفنان والجمهور، ما كان له أثر واضح في نجاح الأمسية ودفئها الإنساني.
وفي ختام الأمسية، عبّر الحضور عن بالغ تقديرهم وارتياحهم لهذا الحدث الثقافي المميز، مشيدين بالدور الفاعل الذي يضطلع به المنتدى العراقي الأسترالي في دعم المبادرات الثقافية التي تسهم في الحفاظ على الهوية الثقافية العراقية وتعزيز حضورها الإيجابي داخل المجتمع الأسترالي. كما أكد العديد منهم أهمية استمرار مثل هذه الفعاليات التي تجمع بين الفن والتراث والإحساس المشترك بالانتماء، وتسهم في توثيق الروابط الثقافية والاجتماعية ضمن النسيج المتعدد الثقافات في أستراليا
